Old Homosassa Community Day is an opportunity for you to meet some of our local non-profit community groups. This is the third year for the event and it will be held on April 6, 2019 from 9 am to 5 pm at the Homosassa Civic Club’s festival grounds, 5530 South Mason Creek Road, Homosassa.

Centered around a yard sale that benefits the Old Homosassa Heritage Council and their current project of lighting up and landscaping the Old Homosassa Water Tower, you will also have an opportunity to check out arts and craft vendors, enjoy local musicians, participate in a cornhole tournament to benefit the Old Homosassa Learning Center, and enjoy hamburgers and hotdogs prepared by the American Legion Post 166.

Local musician Chuck Andrews will be leading the entertainment on the stage starting with the Homosassa Elementary School Chorus, followed by the Homosassa Ukers–the ukulele group that is sponsored by the Homosassa Civic Club. Trinity Ann Martinez, a student at the Academy of Environmental Science that also has an amazing singing voice, will also be performing.

This will be the first year for Find-M Friends to participate. According to their FB page, “The purpose of this organization is to assist in the return of lost or abducted children and adults with Alzheimer’s, etc. by distributing scent evidence kits to the public. Kits are used to collect a fresh body scent to provide an uncontaminated scent for the purpose of a bloodhound to be able to track and find a child or person who is lost or has been abducted.”  They will have scent kits available at their booth on community day!

Save the Homosassa River Alliance and the Homosassa River Restoration Project will also have informative booths there.

Soda, water, and beer will be available for purchase. All proceeds go back to the community!
