ANNUAL HOMOSASSAA MULLET TOSS & SPRING FESTIVAL
The annual Homosassa Mullet Toss was a big success! We, and thousands of our closest friends, had flippin’ fun as we welcomed in the local pleasures spring and summer. Scallop season, summer fireworks, live music at local eateries and relaxing on the river are what we love. This festival offered the entire family a day of river shenanigans. Thanks to Seafood Sellars & Cafe and all of our wonderful sponsors!

Watch for the date of the 2026 fling ( no pun intended). Enjoy delicious local food, live music and more fun than a person has a right to. The event highlight, of course, is the Mullet Toss. You’ve probably heard that you can smoke a mullet, but don’t be embarrassed if you never knew that you can toss one. This Homosassa tradition brings out the bravest of the brave ( or the silliest of the silly), using their athletic prowess to toss a frozen mullet the farthest. Prizes are given for the longest toss in various age groups. Kids and adults have a blast watching the fish fly in all directions.
The Battle of the Badges between the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office and Citrus County Fire Rescue was phenomenal. Both teams threw valiantly. Ultimately, the Fire Rescue team won and they will keep the coveted Mullet Toss Memorial Plaque at their headquarters until next year’s competition.
For the less daring, there are many tamer activities including a casting contest, games, raffles, a Kids Zone and great eats. Held each spring, it is a fun time for all.
Proceeds benefit the Homosassa Civic Club, the Homosassa Learning Center, community charities, scholarships, youth organizations, veteran groups and other charitable endeavors. Many local non-profit organizations provide information on their role in our community.
